Heavy Ice
Disgraced ex-champion Cal Vance is dumped into an unheated Minnesota arena with twenty-four hours to turn four winless high-school seniors into regional curling champions, or go straight to county jail for grand larceny.
The Wrong Door
Frank Mercer examines the still-wet photograph slipped through his mail slot, showing him asleep in his armchair at 3:00 AM beneath his dead partner's handwriting. When floorboards creak above the hallway, he realizes he left his service weapon downstairs on the kitchen counter.
